The Role Of Dragon In Feng Shui

Sphere: Related Content
Dragons happen to be the time-honored and most traditional Chinese element of representation. Feng Shui dragons help people in using their symbolism to encourage balance and equilibrium in their lives and living space. The dragon representations are very common in China and can be found everywhere; these dragons are one of the major symbols belonging to the landscape and culture of the Chinese.

The dragons, according to the ancient Chinese traditions, are believed to have incredible power of controlling the natural aspects and the climatic conditions, which the human beings cannot dominate. Any natural activity like the wind, clouds or rain can easily be dominated and controlled by these dragons. This is one of the major aspects that have made these Feng Shui dragons immensely popular for people in the field of agricultural business.

Feng Shui dragons also symbolize "yang", which is the masculine energy. This indeed is a very strong force carrying activity and creativity. A Feng Shui dragon symbolizes success in any field of achievement and prosperity as well and the effects can further be maximized by determining the position and placement of the Feng Shui dragon.

More to the point, the dragons also correspond to the east and as such the best suited place for positioning a dragon as a Feng Shui item would necessarily be the eastern corner of the home or the work place. By placing the dragon at the correct position you will be empowered with all the positive effects it has and would help you in earning success and prosperity.

Feng shui dragon is one of the most ancient symbols and it probably the most auspicious and powerful Feng Shui cure available today. Almost every Feng Shui remedy has innumerable functions to be performed, but these dragons are the most favorable ones. This Feng Shui product must not be placed in areas having lower energy levels, such as, the closets, the bathrooms or probably the garage. You need not have too many dragons in your home to increase its effects. Just one piece of this Feng Shui item can help you in achieving what you want if placed in the proper direction.

These dragon Feng Shui enhancers are available in various designs and materials each having its only unique remedial qualities. The dragons symbolize abundance, Ambition, Fame and Life. A Better Front Door With Feng Shui: Training, Taming Energy Flow

Sphere: Related Content
The front door of your home is not only the focal point of your house; it’s where you, your family, and visitors regularly enter and exit your home, making it a major outlet of incoming and outgoing energy. Known as the “mouth of chi,” the main door is where the home absorbs much of its energy nourishment. But sometimes the architectural design over the entrance of your home presents a challenge for the flow of energy, which is when it’s time to consult a feng shui practitioner or take some feng shui classes to learn ways to slow down the energy once it comes into the door, focusing it and redirecting it to the rest of the house. For example, if the staircase to the upstairs or basement is located very close to the entrance and the foyer is small, a feng shui cure can help you rework the flow of energy so it doesn’t come in the door and quickly rush upstairs or downstairs, leaving the ground floor of your home without energy nourishment.

To learn how to slow down, focus, and guide energy, you may consider checking out a few feng shui classes in your area, whether you are interested in feng shui certification or just the information. You’ll learn that strategically placed items can help you work with the small foyer space that you have to keep energy on the ground floor when it comes in the entrance. A large vase with flowers or a houseplant, art, a piece of furniture, or a mirror can accomplish this purpose, although if you do decide to use a mirror it shouldn’t face the entrance directly, as this will push energy away and out of the home instead of into the home.

A main entrance with a small foyer and a staircase facing the door is only one of the architectural designs that could benefit from a consultation from a professional with feng shui training. Feng shui cures are often specific to an individual space and its needs, so a feng shui consultant will be able to improve the flow of chi in your home and will have the knowledge to use more advanced aspects of feng shui. Determining the bagua (feng shui energy map) of your home, for example, will produce a host of feng shui cures like painting the walls certain colors and other tactics that will support the five elements of feng shui.

A front door with good feng shui can have a remarkable effect on your health, success, and relationships by providing you and your family with nourishing energy that sustains every aspect of your life.

Fengshui Sabotage

Sphere: Related Content

I have this friend who bought an industrial building to house her business. At that time, she know nothing about Fengshui and I was not acquainted to her then. She let a few key members of her management team of her business look after the renovation of the building then. Unfortunately little did she know that some of these key management team members are already secretly setting up a rival company to operate the same type of business as hers.

These scumbags wanted to sabotage her business before leaving by messing up the Fengshui of her building and business premises. They bluff her by hiring a bogus Fengshui master to give them all the wrong advice about the Fengshui of the premises. One of the glaring sabotage this bogus Fengshui master did is to advise my friend to renovate and locate the building such that the main entrance to the building is at the back of the building. This is akin to a human having his mouth at his back or his bum.

With this and other Fengshui boo-boos, it is no wonder she experienced difficulty in her business after moving into the building.

After the key management staff the company left to start their own company, someone suggested to my friend to re-look the fengshui of the building. She started to attend some Fengshui lessons, Ba Zi lessons and such. But it is too much too short time for her to absorb to apply on the fengshui of her business environment. Although in the meantime she realise the mistake of placing the entrance at the back of the building and re-locate the main door to the front of the building.

Thereafter, she attended this foreign-based master's talk and signed up for his Fengshui services. According to her one of key thing he did was to tilt the main door of the building to a certain degree by applying Fengshui formulas. Based on her testimonial, even after this major Fengshui remedy, problems still continue to plague her business.

Why does this happen? One of the major oversight of this master is to place precedence of formulas over landforms. Tilting the door is meaningless if the landforms does not support it. Without qi, enhancing a good direction is not of much use.

Ancient Chinese Fengshui Tips for the Home Explained

Sphere: Related Content
Fengshui is the ancient Chinese art of creating a harmonious relationship between man and the surrounding environment. The ancient chinese believe that natural energy flows exist in the earth, trees, rivers, streams and mountains etc. Even man made objects such as houses, buildings, roads, interior renovations can have an impact on the lives of people living nearby. While Chinese feng shui used to be a subject studied in secrecy by taoists, geomancers and fortune tellers, modern interior designers in Asian cities are becoming pretty well versed in some common applications of fengshui to improve the positive energies in the offices and homes they are in charge of. Some of the basic simpler methods of improving your home living involve very easy steps, such as rearranging furniture, placing symbols of happiness and auspiciousness at critical locations etc. If done tastefully, it will not degrade and crash badly with the style you anted for your cosy home. You can also consider the use of Fengshui Elements and Colors in the design of your house.

The ancient chinese are concerned about balancing the natural energy flows around the house. Since we normally spend most of our lives in our houses, any disruptions in the energy flows will have a serious impact on us. Not all buildings are constructed in perfect harmony with the surrounding environment and sometimes the balance can also be destroyed when a new road or house is built recently. While we believe chinese fengshui does make some sense and has logical basic fundamentals, the interpretations of the original teachings must have gone way too wild. Furthermore, the original ancient scripts were written in chinese and most of its true meanings and contexts were probably lost in the translations to western languages. Add on the cultural differences between these worlds and you can get the idea why most fengshui sayings sound funky and contradictory.

Fengshui Tips

We now list some basic fengshui tips for the home and what we think they really mean after considering ancient fengshui as a form of symbolism to affect our psyche:

  • A marble table in the house is bad for one's career since it invites work stress.

What the fish? How many marble tables have you seen so far? Do you know how heavy a table made of marble is going to weigh? We think the marble table is not good for the house as it causes additional stress to the building structure.

  • A red sofa set too is often said to give rise to work obstacles and troubles.

Agree. I believe most people know that red, gold and yellow are auspicious colors favored by the chinese. For important happy festivals and ceremonies such as weddings and groundbreaking, these colors are often used. For example, the traditional costume for a chinese bride is red and gold - red dress, red shoes, red head dress, gold jewellery, gold embroidery on the costumes etc. However, these same colors are not used at other times. These are powerful colors that introduce a lot of positive yang energy and there is no need for so much yang at normal times. Otherwise, the delicate balance between yin and yang will be overwhelmed.

There have been modern studies of how colors affect our mood. We know that red causes aggression (remember the bull?) so we guess a sofa which is used for lazing and lounging around should not be causing such strong emotions.

By the way, the ancient emperors have imperial robes made from golden and yellow silk, and no other person whether they are commoners and officials are allowed to wear clothes of those colors. They are so damn special that they are only reserved for the emperor. It is a capital offense to be in possession of clothes made of golden and yellow silk - they charge you for trying to rebel against the country and become the emperor yourself. So why is the emperor not subjected to the above rules on powerful colors? Well, this is a special case...he is the son of heavens after all, and we are not going to argue with someone who is allowed to have hundreds of young maidens as concubines anyway.

  • Have sufficient lighting in the rooms because light is an important source of energy. In dim places where natural sun light cannot reach, color the walls with yellow paint to represent sunlight.

Just go buy a table lamp or a hip lava lamp. Do you really want a yellow cellar?

  • The bed should be placed next to a wall and not pointing towards the door.

I suppose if the bed is inline with the door, it is going to get pretty chilly at night with all the winds passing from the windows towards the door.

  • Remove mirrors that show reflections of yourself lying in bed.

You may get scared and thought there was another person sleeping in the room when it was just a reflection you just seen. Well, it can happen so make sure the dressing mirror does not face the bed.

  • The doorway should not be obstructed with shelves, shoes and other items such that positive energy can freely enter the house.

Ehh...it is embarrassing to show an untidy doorway to your neighbors or passersby every time you open your door.

  • The seats should be arranged such that anyone inside the house can see the doorway clearly.

We think this is for security reasons; you will definitely not want people sneaking into the house without you noticing.

  • Placing mirrors in the room help positive energy reach dark corners in the room and help amplify the amount of light energy.

Blah, it is really difficult to design a room with many mirrors unless its a dance hall. It is also very distracting with all those reflections moving around. Remember suspense movies with mirror room scenes? We would not want to live in such a house.

  • Healthy plants represent living energy and invokes the healing and nurturing vibrations of nature while dying or withered plants attract negative yin energy.

Well, rotting plants do attract lots of pests so they should be removed as soon as possible. They look untidy and people may think that the inhabitants of the house are unkempt. That is bad for your image.

  • Do not place home appliances associated with water and fire together as they do will clash badly and this will cause disagreements to arise among the family members.

Does that mean it is bad to boil tap water for safe drinking? And the stove should not be placed in the kitchen where the tap and sink are located?

  • Do not let children sleep on the floor or else they will fall sick frequently. Let them sleep on proper beds with space between the floor and the mattress such that beneficial positive energy can flow underneath the bed.

The floor can be awfully cold at night and it is really hard and bad for the spine. Even adults are going to get sick by sleeping on the floor. The space between the floor and the mattress is probably for air ventilation and keeps the mattress fresh and cool.

  • Positive energy flows can be disrupted by clutter and mess in the house. Positive energy should be allowed to flow freely in the house from one room to the other.

We think it is awkward to walk around in the house if it is messy and there are a lot of unwanted stuff lying around. You just feel uneasy if your room resembles a pig sty rather than a living quarter fit for humans.

  • Keep the bathroom clean and its door should be closed all the time in order to avoid its negative energy to flow into the rest of the house.

We serious believe funky smells to be a form of negative energy so this rule should be strictly complied with. Just in case, make sure everyone in the house flush properly after using the bathroom.

  • All the doors in the house should be closed and locked during night time as you sleep such that domestic relationships are benign and no health problems will arise.

Anyone will be seriously worried and unable to sleep if the main door is missing and cannot be closed or locked. How can there be privacy if your bedroom door is not closed while you sleep?

There you go, some common sense interpretation of the arcane fengshui arts. Do not expect a sudden windfall after applying the above rules and you should do just fine.

Your Kitchen, Your Health and Feng Shui

Sphere: Related Content
When applying the principles of Feng Shui to a home, people often think of ways to improve the home’s entrance, living room or bedroom. Did you ever wonder what other rooms of your home might benefit from the art of Feng Shui? One of my favorite rooms in the house is the kitchen, yet it is often overlooked when it comes to the application of Feng Shui methodology. The kitchen is also one area of the home where Feng Shui can potentially have a direct benefit to your long term physical health. In this article I will discuss what you can do to your kitchen that will help create more positive Qi (energy or life force) and in doing so improve your overall health and the health of your family.

Feng Shui Color

In my articles, I often discuss the important role color plays in the Feng Shui thought process. This concept is also important in the kitchen where some colors are not only aesthetically pleasing but, believe it or not, can improve the home owner’s digestive cycle. Proper digestion is considered one of the basic tenants which helps determine a person’s ability to live a long and healthy life. Our knowledge of Feng Shui colors is a useful tool which can be used to help support this goal.

So, what are these magical Feng Shui colors? The most auspicious colors you can paint your kitchen, in the order of importance, are:

This stimulates digestion in the intestinal tract.

Is a soothing or healing balm for the nervous system.

Is a relaxing color that promotes calmness and inner peace.

These colors have various effects on the brain and its many functions due to the way the brain is stimulated through the visual cortex. Whether you are stimulated by yellow or sedated by greens and blues, Feng Shui colors have a profound effect on our everyday health.

Please keep in mind; you do not have to choose a bright color for it to have a positive effect on your digestive tract. Various hues of yellow, green or blue will still have a beneficial Feng Shui effect.

Feng Shui Cookware and Appliances

Proper Feng Shui cookware is also a critical element in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It is best not to have metal cookware. However, many western societies prefer to use stainless steel or aluminum pots and pans. Unfortunately, scientific data supports the belief that exposure to aluminum may have negative effects on the human nervous system and potential links to Alzheimer's disease. If not metal, what is the proper Feng Shui choice for cookware?

You will notice many fine restaurants use copper base pot and pans. Professional cooks prefer copper because the heat conducts more rapidly and it is easier to control. Copper is the choice of Feng Shui practitioners because it does not have the toxicity of aluminum and it is a magnet for positive Qi. Some people prefer to use glass cookware. Although glass cookware eliminates the toxicity issues, it will not create good Feng Shui Qi for you or your kitchen

If it is practical, try to choose a gas range for your kitchen. A live flame not only allows you to cook more precisely, but the flame represents the Feng Shui element of Fire. Fire has played an important role in human development and it represents expansion. Using fire will symbolize growth in your own life and as a result you will become more open to change and opportunity.

Feng Shui Kitchen Layout

The layout of your kitchen is also vitally important. So, if at all feasible, try to keep in mind the following Feng Shui principles and scenarios:

1. Never turn your back on the entrance to the kitchen!
While you are cooking, you should never have your back face the entrance of your kitchen. This is due to the fact that Qi will come through the doorway and attack you from behind. Whether in the kitchen, or any other room, we should always attempt to face the oncoming Qi.

Feng Shui Cure
The best Feng Shui cure for this particular affliction is to hang a faceted crystal above the stove or in the center of your kitchen’s ceiling. The crystal will help distribute the Qi more evenly throughout your cooking environment.

2. You should never be able to see the bathroom from the kitchen!
The position of the bathroom in relationship to your kitchen is critically important. The bathroom is a place where much of the health Qi can potentially be "flushed" down the toilet. If you can see the commode from the kitchen, when the bathroom door is open, then you will need to immediately institute the following cures.

Feng Shui Cure #1
Place a small dish or shot glass on the commode and fill it with raw white rice. The rice will prevent the Qi, or more importantly, the health aspect of your Qi from being literally flushed down the toilet. Rice is grown in a paddy field and its semi-aquatic nature will symbolically deflect the Qi away from the commode and up towards the wall and ceiling.

Qi will get flushed away every time someone forgets to put down the lid before flushing. Yes, men are notorious for this particular Feng Shui disaster in the making! So make sure to take time for a refresher course on bathroom etiquette.

Feng Shui Cure #2
Keep the bathroom door shut at all times, and keep the drain of the sink open only when in use. A closed bathroom door will keep the Qi from entering room and the closed drain will keep it from escaping through the sink.

Even though the kitchen is probably one of the most popular rooms in the house, we often forget the role it plays in our Feng Shui life. If you implement our understanding of Feng Shui color, cookware and layout with respect to your kitchen, you will see a marked improvement in your health. Of course this should not be used as a justification for eating poorly and avoiding exercise.

Utilizing the Tools of Feng Shui - The Bagua

Sphere: Related Content
The Bagua is a practical way of applying the philosophical principles of the I Ching or Book of Changes to Feng Shui.

Shape has an effect on the flow of energy and balance. Hence the Bagua, used like a map can be applied to your plot of land, your house, your rooms, your furniture and even your business and prosperity in life. The Bagua is a most fair and practical way of applying the philosophical principles of the I Ching or what is also referred to as "The Book of Changes" to Feng Shui.

From time immortal, the Chinese have taken to consult and ponder the I Ching for its measures and insights into the very nature of people, places things and interpersonal relationships. Other cultures may have used wizards and astrology. The Chinese used the "Book of Changes ", which we know its Chinese language term "The I Ching".

It can be said that the very basis of I Ching directs one towards an understanding of what are called and technically described as simply " trigrams ". Trigrams can be said to indicate the degree of yin and yang. Trigrams in their simplicity explain and demonstrate the ideas of constant change. Not only that but the change illustrated by these trigrams is constant and cyclical- that is not only can you count on it to change but also to change in a similar predictable manner - that is if you live , or persevere long enough. The statement 'what goes around comes around" is a testament and example of this philosophy and way of life. In its simplest explanation the octagonal shape of the eight trigrams with unbroken lines represent yang, and broken lines represent yin and is called a or the "Bagua".

Thus the Bagua represents the eight directions - the eight trigrams of the I Ching. Each of these represents the eight life situations - prosperity, fame, relationships, creative energy, travel and helpful people, career, knowledge, family and health - with the taiji (tai chi) in the middle, represented best and most simply and straightforwardly the yin/yang symbol of complimentary opposites.

How can the Bagua best be used and its teachings and insights used?

By placing the Bagua over a plan of your home or room you can best identify your own particular problem areas. To apply the Bagua effectively you will need a plan of your home drawn to scale. First step in the process is to designate the "center" and the "front" areas of your spaces. . The" front door" can be said to be qi enters the position of the front door will help you determine where the Bagua should be placed.

Most likely you will find with time and experience that t he front door will generally seem to fall in one of three areas. What these are all depends on where the door is located physically and thus in what general location the door or gateway faces. If it found in the center portion, then the direction will be towards enhancing career as well as career choices. If the door is located to the right of center then this entranceway will be the gateway to travel, perhaps even sale of your property and the move to a new and enhanced residence. Lastly as an overall good omen if the you find that this door faces in a direction to the left - this is a very good omen. You will be rewarded with great knowledge and intuition.

It can be generally said that few houses or rooms are perfectly square. Hence if you attempt to impose the Bagua over your careful planning you can thus generally identify the problems that are currently associated with unusual as well as unbalanced shapes. For example a missing corner could indicate particular difficulties. If it is the corner which you consider associated with career and career themes, then it could mean problems or difficulties in the workplace. If it's a health corner - then it could mean ongoing illness and illnesses - say for example a bout of irritable bowel syndrome , or depression and anxiety which might be best dealt with a vacation to a serene lakeside cottage or chalet.

Any of the general cures - like mirrors, wind chimes or crystals - can be used to make your adjustments. These adjustments can be said to be all interchangeable. If you are having financial problems it is best to pay attention to the wealth corner of your house. Often financial difficulties are the source of many a family's and marriages inherent problems and difficulties. This can be said to be more than a truism.

Feng Shui enthusiasts have different niches. Different personalities and cultural backgrounds are incorporated into the Feng Shui attempts. The good thing is that you do not have to limit yourself to a certain make to be able to apply Feng Shui. However, it may do you a lot of good if you are able to find the groups of people who have the same interests as yours as far as Feng Shui is concerned.

If you are after the more rigid type of the loose application of Feng Shui, these are all possible depending on your preference, for Feng Shui is really all a matter of channeling the right energy to make the environment work to your benefit.

The Striving Employee

The striving employee who likes Feng Shui aims to make a miniature balance of earth elements in his cubicle. This may involve him or her putting a small mirror for water, a jacket to ward off the excessive metal in the corporate workplace and many others. The striving employee may also invite relaxation and peace of mind by means of a plant ornament or any lovely fixture that doubles as a Feng Shui charm and a form of esthetic display.

Feng Shui Symbols for Prosperity and Abundance

Sphere: Related Content
Choosing Feng Shui symbols need not be hard. You don’t really need to stuff yourself with crystals, essential oils or other things that may not necessarily be in harmony with each other. The key to having good Feng Shui is balance, and you need to be able to have the qualities of balance to invite the good things and experience the pleasurable effects of Feng Shui in your life. There are many kinds of Feng Shui symbols, and you may have to orient yourself properly about these Feng Shui symbols before hanging any in your home.

In choosing the right Feng Shui symbol, you must have some emotional relationship to the object you are using as a Feng Shui symbol. Some of the Feng Shui symbols are meant to provide cures for bad luck. The others are meant to supplement what is already inherently there in your home or office. The mood that you want to convey must be established right from the very beginning before you shop around for Feng Shui symbols so that you will find the appropriate symbol that will fit your needs.

Crystals

There are quite a lot of crystals available for Feng Shui, and familiarizing yourself with each one of them and their functions will help you acquire what you need to be able to invite prosperity and abundance in your life. When you are using crystals, make sure that you take good care of it and wash it regularly to avoid dust or clutter from overpowering it.

Essential Oils

Some of the more relaxing oil varieties include the lavender oil, which is very good for helping you attain peace of mind in your environment. Essential oils are very conducive to providing a positive environment for your home or office. Just make sure that you use the right amount of oils so that you will not overpower your environment with too much oil. Also, for purposes of variety, have some stock of various oils so that you will be able to experience different modes of environment even by just changing the scent.

Fountains

Fountains provide serenity and the element of water in the environment. If you have a fountain that is quite unobtrusive and physically appealing, place it in such a way that it will complement metal and not overpower your fire elements. Fountains complement metal elements so make sure that you are able to position it with the metal elements in your home or office.

Bagua and other Feng Shui Tools

The right orientation for the Feng Shui bagua is also important if you are to use it in your home. The Feng Shui tools that you might need must also complement each other so that you will not find yourself in the middle of a clashed set of Feng Shui symbols. Chinese coins tied with a string are also another form of good luck charm.

Animals

Animals are also considered part of the Feng Shui symbols. Some of the attributes of the animal being used is actually assimilated by the environment according to Feng Shui experts.

The Color Factor

Color is also an important aspect of Feng Shui. The visual appeal must not only be derived on what goes with where, but it must also be grounded on the right colors you need. It all depends on the mood that you want to convey.

Is Feng Shui really friendly for all genders? While there is no question to the fact that it can invite some positive vibes into your home just by the mere art of rearranging your furniture and the orientations of your surroundings, it may actually reveal so much more about culture if one takes a good look at it.

For one thing, the Yin and Yang illustration is a very famous facet of Feng Shui. It simply states that opposites are necessary to be able to appreciate the beauty of things. You cannot appreciate the good without bad, light without darkness and so on. This theory of opposites and balance extends to the elements of the earth: water, wind, fire, wood and earth. These elements are also in balance if good Feng Shui is present.

Yin is often characterized with strength, viability and aggressiveness. More importantly, it is attributed to the masculine side of identity. On the other hand, weakness and femininity are interchangeably attributed to the Yang side, the softer side of things. Is this really a good thing? While it has been maintained that it is a world for the masculine, the main precepts of Feng Shui are actually more tailored to suit male, establishing them as the strong ones in the spectrum of life.

The Feng Shui concept is already organized in its scope. Any person you ask about Feng Shui may tell you its symbols: the bagua, the yin and yang diagram and the charms used by Feng Shui experts to cancel bad luck. However, the main concepts are not entirely original. The philosopher Heraclitus from Greece is credited for having first denoted the concept of having opposites. And consequently, psychology on colors and other visual media can also state some theories that are resonant with Feng Shui precepts.

Interestingly, there are more women drawn to the Feng Shui habit than men, who may or may not be conscious that they are actually supporting a form of belief system that establishes males as strong and females as weak. But other than the Yin –Yang concept, there is no other outward manifestation of this gender bias.

Is it really a good thing to believe in Feng Shui and apply it? The answer is relative. It depends on the person who is asking and the background under which he or she is raised. If you are born in an open-minded culture which holds less restrictions on what you can and cannot do, the applying of Feng Shui may be a non-issue. Meanwhile, if you are under a movement that opposes the main beliefs of Feng Shui, you may have to make a more substantial choice of lifestyle changes.

Feng Shui also has its own Yin and Yang to speak of. If you are really intent on ruminating on the deeper aspects of Feng Shui, you may have to dig deeper beyond what you see on promotional materials and even hate literature against Feng Shui. For the most part, Feng Shui is quite harmless in nature and it does not really explicitly cause major changes in one’s lifestyles or belief systems.

But if in case you choose to be more meticulous, you may find that analyzing beneath the layers of promotion of Feng Shui that there is more to it than just rearranging furniture.
